Öhlins introduced a new crown for the DH38 fork on 7 June 2026, designed in collaboration with factory downhill racers and inspired by motocross construction. The crown costs 499 EUR (including 19% VAT; price may vary by market) or 475 USD and is available in four offset options: 46, 50, 54, and 58 mm.
The Swedish manufacturer claims the new crown significantly increases front-end stiffness compared to the previous version, translating into steering precision and stability at high speeds.

475 USD for the crown, 2275 USD for a complete set with the DH38 m.2 fork
Öhlins has long sold DH38 crowns and forks separately so that riders can choose their preferred offset to suit their frame's geometry. If you're already running the DH38, you can purchase the crown on its own as an upgrade. For those buying from scratch: the DH38 m.2 fork alone costs 1800 USD, making the complete package (fork + new crown) 2275 USD.
The four offset options (46, 50, 54, 58 mm) provide considerable room to manipulate trail and front-end feel. A smaller offset (46 mm) slows steering and increases trail, which, given the steep head tube angles typical of modern DH bikes, can deliver greater stability on straight sections. A larger offset (58 mm) reduces trail and quickens the steering response, which tends to be preferred on tight, technical courses.
