Formula Cura 4 Kashima is a new version of the four-piston brake featuring a Kashima Coat finish on the master cylinder piston and calipers, applied by Japanese company Miyaki. The retail price is 310 EUR per individual brake (adapters and rotors sold separately), with a claimed weight of 400 g with an 85 cm hose, 160 mm one-piece rotor, and mounting bolts. Technically the brake retains the full specification of the standard Cura 4, with the Kashima coating intended to improve lever feel smoothness.

Kashima Coat on the master cylinder piston and four 18 mm pistons
The Kashima Coat finish, well known from Fox forks and Formula suspension, is applied here primarily to the master cylinder piston. According to the manufacturer, it reduces friction and delivers lighter, more consistent lever action in all conditions. The gold colour also appears on the calipers, which Formula presents as a visual consistency element matching suspension components finished with the same coating. The four thermoplastic pistons with a diameter of 18 mm and low roll-back seals remain identical to those in the base Cura 4, as do the pad contact area and pad thickness.
Two-piece FCS lever with tool-free adjustment
The Kashima version comes standard with a two-piece FCS (Feeling Control System) lever, which allows the braking character to be changed between more progressive and more direct. Reach adjustment is tool-free. The entire assembly is forged and anodised, which Formula highlights in the context of durability and weight. The package includes sintered pads (installed from the factory) as well as an additional set of organic pads.
